August 29, 2009 - Matmonim Summer Camp

Matmonim Summer Camp is an exciting adventure into our past and heritage for Jewish teens. The five week program offers two tracks; the start and end dates of both tracks are the same, and the two groups are merged in the third week of camp. Campers enjoy amazing activities such as parasailing, scuba diving, hot air ballooning, and more.

Track 1 - Walking the Path of the Chumash, explores the earliest ancient sites of the Chumash with two weeks in Turkey. Turkey has played a significant role in Jewish History, and Judaism has had a continuous presence in Turkey since biblical times. Our program has received special permission from the Turkish Ministry of Culture & Tourism to climb Mt. Ararat, believed to be the resting place of Noah’s Ark. As you walk the path of Avraham (from Harran to Canaan, Parshat Lech Lecha) campers will feel a sense of purpose and adventure. This is a truly unique opportunity! We continue our journey by joining the Track 2 Program for three weeks in Israel.

Track 2 - Walking the Path of the Tanach, explores the earliest ancient Jewish biblical sites of the Tanach with five weeks in Israel. Since the time of Avraham, Israel has been the focal point of Jewish history. Campers discover Israel like never before as they explore ancient sites such as Megiddo (Melachim), Bet She'an (Shoftim), Chorazin, Har Carmel (Melachim), Dobrath (Yehoshua), En Dor (Shmuel Aleph), Har Gilboa (Shmuel Aleph), Hazor (Yehoshua), Jezreel Valley (Shoftim), Kishon River (Shoftim & Melachim). In Central Israel; Abu Ghosh, Anathoth (Yermiahu), Ashdod (Yehoshua, Shmuel Aleph, Nechemia, Yishayahu, Zecharia, Divrei Hayyamim), Ashkelon (Zecharia), Bait El (Beraishit, Shoftim, Melachim Aleph & Bet), Bait Lechem (Shir Hashirim), Dothan (Beraishit, Melachim Bet), Elah (Shmuel Aleph), Bait Guvrin (Shoftim), Ekron (Shmuel), Har Gerizim (Yehoshua), Har Ebal (Dvarim, Yehoshua), Gezer (Melachim), Halhul (Divrei Hayammim), Chevron & Ma'arat Hamachpelah (Beraishit, Shmuel Bet), Yericho (Divrei Hayammim, Yonah), Samaria (Melachim Aleph & Bet), Sharon (Yehoshua), Shechem (Beraishit, Melachim Bet), Arad (Bamidbar, Yehoshua), Be'er Sheva (Beraishit), Yam Hamelach (Beraishit), Ein Gedi (Shmuel Aleph, Shir Hashirim), Ezion Gaver (Bamidbar), Masada, The Qumran Caves, Nahal Hever, Negev (Shmot, Dvarim), Bar Kochva Caves, Yerushalayim, and more!

August 9, 2009 - Fiscal Sponsorship

Israel Service Organization is now fiscally sponsoring the Matmonim Foundation, which means that your donation to the Matmonim Foundation is tax deductable. The Israel Service Organization is a licensed 501(c)(3) tax exempt, non-profit organization founded in 2007. The goal of the ISO is to provide high quality entertainment and vital moral support to the Israel Defense Forces. Created by professional American musicians with over ten years of industry experience, the ISO funnels its love of Israel and Her troops through the prism of music, comedy, and other programming.  All ISO performances are on-site, be they on an Army base, in an Air Force Hangar, or on the front lines.
The ISO is a youth initiated program that continues to bridge the generations in fulfilling the pressing obligation to support Israel.  Working closely with its board members, outside consultants, and members of the Israeli military, the organization is uniquely positioned to fund, organize, and execute programs all over Israel and North America.

The ISO promotes student initiatives in America and Canada. This includes the preparing of care packages, fund-raisers, letter writing campaigns, and more.  All donations go directly to facilitating contact with Israeli soldiers, most of whom are no older than the students working on their behalf in North America. Fiscally sponsoring the Matmonim Foundation enables the ISO to further its goal of continuing student iinitiatives.
